Humanity’s Mid-Term Report: A Sobering Grade from Both Humans and AI

Surprisingly, technological innovation received a B, but with a caveat: our ability to create outpaces our wisdom to govern.

The single solution that both human and AI evaluators highlighted is one we already know but struggle to practice: long-term thinking over short-term gain. From climate policy to geopolitical conflicts, the pattern repeats—we prioritize immediate comfort or profit over sustainable survival. The report suggests that humanity’s grade will not improve until we collectively choose delayed gratification, cooperation over competition, and humility over hubris. The answer is not a new invention; it is an old virtue we have yet to master.
