Don't Let AI Write the Story of Your Life

Don't Let AI Write the Story of Your Life

The stories we tell about our lives are far more than simple communication. They are the very tools we use to construct our identity, make sense of our past, and chart our course forward. In an age of proliferating artificial intelligence, a crucial warning emerges: we must not outsource this deeply human act to machines.

AI can generate text, mimic styles, and assemble facts, but it cannot live a life. It lacks the visceral memory of a first heartbreak, the nuanced joy of an unexpected kindness, or the complex grief that shapes resilience. An AI-written biography might be chronologically accurate, but it would be devoid of the emotional truth, the subjective weight, and the personal meaning that transforms events into a personal narrative.

When we let algorithms draft our personal or professional stories, we risk flattening our experiences into data points. We surrender the messy, beautiful, and contradictory process of self-discovery that comes from wrestling with our own words. The act of writing and reflecting is itself formative. Protecting this process is essential, for the stories we author don't just describe who we are—they actively create who we become. The pen, in all its imperfect glory, must remain in human hands.
