Clearwater psychologist accused of having images from documented Russian child pornography series

A Clearwater psychologist who operates the Advantage Mental Health Center has been arrested on charges of possessing child pornography, according to officials who made the announcement Tuesday. The case involves images from a well-documented Russian child pornography series that has been tracked by international law enforcement.

Detectives with the Clearwater Police Department say they identified the suspect after an investigation into online activity tied to the explicit material. The psychologist, whose name has not been released pending formal charges, was taken into custody without incident at his office. Authorities allege that the images were found on devices belonging to the suspect, and that the content matches a known series originating from Russia that has circulated among offenders for years.

The Advantage Mental Health Center, which the psychologist owns, provides counseling and therapy services to patients in the area. Officials have not indicated whether any patients were involved or targeted, but they are urging anyone with information to come forward. The arrest has raised concerns among local residents, as the suspect held a professional license to treat vulnerable individuals.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the psychologist is expected to face a first appearance in court later this week.
